Diane Duda

This is the self taught, mother of three artist, Diane Duda. Her work is fun and she uses parts of old books (my favorite) sometimes. Just being at the library book store, I satisfied my fix for 1950's books.

Paper Dolls

Paper dolls are wonderful. I recently found an envelope of paper dolls I played with when I was little. I remember my mom helping me cut them out and how delicate they were. Yesterday, I bought a birthday card for someone with little paper dolls that punched out. I bought one for me too! These dolls are from Demarco Designs.

Una Flor de Papel

In an attempt to become more one with nature (mmm), this year we got a surfing calender with the phases of the moon as a major feature. Today, I saw this calender by Cecilia in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She features the calender on her blog, Flor de Papel. How cool is this! It organizes and simplifies the whole moon phase thing.

Cherokee Wisdom

Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a
battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between two
"wolves" inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret,
greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false
pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility,
kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather:
"Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee replied, "The one you feed."

This book is also inspiring. Not only the concept behind the book and the art inside the book, but the construction of the book its self is very interesting.

Libraries

Libraries are one of my favorite places to go. This web site has some awesome photos of libraries around the world. I think this library in Paris is the one used in the movie Va Savoir. I think I've watched Va Savoir a million times, and I hope to watch it a million more! It is a beautiful movie. Back to libraries -- so much information, so little time.

pencil case

Every time I rearranging the sewing room, it feels like a new era. This 'era' started off with denim jeans. My muscial inspiration is from a CD of songs that arrived with the zine Broken Records. This case is now the vault for my $$ and credit card. It is too pretty to take the money out of it. Well, maybe some money slipped out ;)

There are lots of beautiful and colorful things and little bits of information to spark my creativity here on the WWW. This beautiful blog is my find tonight.
